The time-honored letterpress printing process dates back to 1440 when Gutenberg invented movable type and changed the world with books and literature produced on a converted wine press. The vintage process died out in the mid twentieth century because of the time consuming process of the make-ready; building up the light and heavy images with a perfectly balanced impression. Greenwich Letterpress has resurrected the vintage process on two seventy five-year old presses and trained press operators to spend the time required to duplicate the same make-ready process that Gutenberg introduced over five centuries ago. Your wedding invitations or business announcements are produced on hand-molded papers produced in Italy and England. Greenwich Letterpress creates artful, high-end designs by working one-on-one with customers, tailoring their expertise as professional artists and designers to define and reflect individual styles.
